Introduction to the SBI PO Mains 2022 Exam Experience
The SBI PO Mains 2022 exam marked a significant milestone in my banking career. This article provides an in-depth analysis of my experience, including the preparation, performance, and key takeaways for aspiring candidates.
Preparation and D-Day
As a professional from Kunal Professional Academy in Agra, the proximity to the exam center presented its own challenges. The day started with heavy rainfall, but the staff managed to handle the situation efficiently. My strategy involved nerves of steel and a heavy dose of prayas (effort).
Verification and Exam Day Nerves
After the verification process, we were seated and the exam began promptly at 8:30 AM. In an atmosphere charged with anticipation, I whispered blessings and sought divine grace to ease my nerves. The day held the potential to be the turning point in my career aspirations.
Exam Analysis
The exam included five sections: Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, General Awareness, and the Descriptive Section. Here is a detailed breakdown of each section.
Reasoning Ability
The reasoning section began with a calmer note, where I was confident due to my familiarity with the format. The machine-input-output questions were simpler than expected, which allowed me to quickly analyze and answer them. The puzzle related to a flat floor was trickier but manageable. I managed to attempt 11 questions without overstraining myself.
Quantitative Aptitude
The quantitative ability section turned out to be more challenging. While it was moderate compared to previous IBPS PO mains exams, the questions were straightforward and well within my grasp. I completed 9 questions with a high accuracy rate of 1.67 each. The data interpretation (DI) question included a combination of probability and number series, which was slightly more complex but still manageable.
English Language
The English language section was relatively easier than the reasoning and quantitative sections. However, the new pattern introduced questions where a paragraph was given and we had to count the number of errors. I left all such questions unanswered to avoid negative marking. I managed to complete 24 questions with good accuracy, including 2 reading comprehension (RC) rearrangement questions and some fill-in-the-blanks.
General Awareness
The general awareness section posed a significant challenge. The exam introduced new pattern questions and reduced marks from quant and reasoning sections, making this part even more critical. Despite preparation for IBPS PO mains, I found it particularly difficult. I was able to score 32 out of 50, with 20-22 questions being accurately answered due to prior preparation.
Descriptive Section
The descriptive section included a letter to the editor and an essay on financial inclusion. Both topics were straightforward, allowing me to complete the word limit and proofread my work carefully. This section marked the end of the exam, and while challenging, it was manageable with a systematic approach.
Reflection and Takeaways
Examining my performance, I identified several key takeaways:
Consistent Practice: Regular practice and thoroughly understanding the exam pattern are crucial. Time Management: Efficient time management during the exam, especially in quantitative and general awareness, was key. Negative Marking: Being cautious with questions that might lead to negative marks. Stress Management: Managing exam-related stress through prayer, positive affirmations, and maintaining a calm mindset. My experience with the SBI PO Mains 2022 can inspire other aspirants to prepare meticulously and approach the exam with confidence and strategy. Additional resources and professional guidance can significantly enhance your chances of success.
