The company fosters a management hierarchy that encourages an autocratic approach, which garners significant benefits, especially in terms of career progression. While this may seem positive on the surface, it requires exceptional interpersonal and selling skills to navigate the complex dynamics.

Managers and Management

Higher management in Deloitte tend to form groups based on loyalty, a trait that is particularly prevalent in the United States. If you lack technical or business knowledge, you might be given a lead role due to political influence. These leaders are expected to be authoritative in directing their juniors and claiming credit for their work.

Challenges and Downsides

My 1.6 years as a Business Technology Analyst (BTA) at Deloitte provided a different perspective. Despite the company's high profile, it lacks the challenge and innovation that I was hoping for. The culture and interpersonal dynamics were open and supportive, yet the atmosphere was not conducive to in-depth learning.

The projects we worked on were often monotonous, and the teams were so large that individual contributions were minimal. There were substantial limitations in learning new technologies like Java. Projects typically spanned three years on average, and very few individuals had the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies like Node.js or React. The work was systemically unchallenging, which may be satisfactory for some, but for those seeking innovation and new skills, Deloitte may not be the ideal choice.
